Another look at disability in the workplace

Meet & Share

As part of the European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH), LBP AM led several initiatives to promote inclusion in the workplace: Wednesday November 22 saw the "Meet & Share RH" event dedicated to this societal issue, while a new edition of "DuoDay" was held on Thursday.

LBP AM pursues its objective of promoting diversity and inclusion around 3 strategic pillars:

  • diversity, with the recruitment of varied profiles from different backgrounds (age, gender, academic background, ...) ;
  • parity, through the monitoring of equality indicators and the representation of men and women in our leadership;
  • inclusion, with our involvement in associations supporting people with disabilities.

The European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH, 27th edition) is a not-to-be-missed event. It is an opportunity for the LBP AM group to renew its commitment to the professional integration of disabled people, through very concrete actions. "Through these initiatives, LBP AM aims to help change the way the business world looks at disability. In this respect, we are very proud to be a partner of the HandiFormaFinance collective, which focuses on an essential aspect of integration: training", says Lily Desnoes, Human Resources Director at LBP AM

HandiFormaFinance: from diploma training to inclusion in the financial sector

Our "HR Meet & Share" spotlighted the work of HandiFormaFinance, an inclusive training program in the finance sector for people with disabilities. Lucile Bloch, on behalf of HandiFormaFinance, shared her vision of the challenges of corporate inclusion.

The course is designed to support the professional training of disabled people, from obtaining a diploma to training in financial professions. It fosters the meeting of two needs: access to qualified employment for people with disabilities who have the skills - note that the unemployment rate is twice as high for these people! - and that of recruiting for companies with social commitments and values.

"Through its projects, HandiFormaFinance demonstrates that disability is in no way a barrier to skills, performance or the high standards that all employees demand of themselves. Over the past 11 years, we have provided training leading to qualifications and professional inclusion for 60 students, in back and middle office professions and, more recently, in IT and human resources in particular", explains Lucile Bloch.

Dorine Bourneton, a sunny testimonial!

Another testimonial came from Dorine Bourneton, CSR Manager at Louvre Banque Privée. An extraordinary personality, and the world's first disabled woman to be an aerobatics pilot, Dorine shared her enthusiastic and energetic views on what should drive inclusion in the professional world. "For people with disabilities, the most difficult thing to do in the workplace is probably to overcome their inhibitions about communication and dialogue. And yet, to work as part of a team and encourage collective performance, you have to dare to say what you need, what you don't understand, your difficulties or failures. Dare to talk freely about your disability. This helps to avoid misunderstandings, to move forward and to express everyone's potential.

As a pilot and aviation enthusiast, Dorine not only overcame the disability  she suffered in a plane accident at the age of 16, but also worked to change the law: alongside personalities such as Dominique Bussereau, former Secretary of State for Transport, and Brigite Revellin-Falcoz, one of the first female airline pilots, she defended changes in regulations to allow disabled people access to flying. Dorine's strength comes from her lifelong heroes: "My role models are the pioneers of aeropostale, who achieved what others thought impossible. Saint-Exupéry and Mermoz are models of courage for me," she sums up.

Last but not least, Thursday saw the "DuoDay", a national immersion day enabling a disabled person to discover a job and a sector within a company. LBP AM welcomed two people undergoing professional retraining for a day of discovery and sharing within the Data, Digital & Innovation team and the Communication & CSR Department.
